ABOUT

Sophie MacDonald is a West London born actor and writer. Before attending The Oxford School of Drama, she completed a First Class joint Honours Bachelors degree in English Literature and Drama at the University of Birmingham.   
Sophie is hugely passionate about gritty adaptations of classical texts and queer new writing. Some performing highlights have been playing Romeo in English Theatre Dusseldorf’s  production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’  in their ‘Shakespeare Am Rein’ festival , and exploring themes of dementia and queerness in the 1950s in Gabrielle Silvestre’s ‘Des Fleurs’.  
Sophie is a promising playwright  who, despite only starting  in 2022,  has already been shortlisted  for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s esteemed 37 Plays Project. With a focus on invisible disability and queer culture, information about “Snow Shoes” onstage will be coming soon.
